Education and Teachers Essay Example for Free

Education and Teachers Essay Teachers in Taiwan enjoy higher occupational prestige and great job satisfaction. In Germany teachers enjoy teaching. Teachers in China are highly respected. Those within the Indian culture feel that teachers are next to God. American teachers believe that teaching helps societys well-being. Teachers in England are poorly regarded. Teachers are constant companions and they mold student’s personality. They are role models and they motivate the students. However, according to individual experience there are different kinds of teachers some are friendly ,some are strict and others are ideal teachers. The first kind of teachers are friendly teachers. They combine both the guidance of a teacher and the understanding of a friend. Friendly teachers act like philosophers and guides. A friendly teacher helps the students to choose the right path . These teachers are closer to the students and better educators because they understand students needs and help them accordingly. Personality development and positive attitude of the each student is their first priority. Friendly teachers never criticize their students in the class ,and they are always gentle with them. My 8th grade math teacher is the perfect example for this. He was very friendly with us. He used to stay after school to help with our math problems. He used to meet our parents on regular basis. I really enjoyed his teaching methods. He is one of my favorite teachers. So friendly teachers are very important for the students future. The other kinds of teachers are strict teachers. Strict teachers are very tough on students. They dislike any mistakes or carelessness. These kind of teachers have high expectations for their students. Disciplining their students is important for the strict teachers. Students have to be extra cautious about these kinds of teachers. For example, my 6th grade music teacher was very strict. He wanted us to memorize each note. I was nervous when I started that class. I wanted to quit the class because of his strictness. After I realized that he was just helping me through tough times, I admired him. Because of his discipline, I continued the music class. Even though strict teachers are rough sometimes, some students need these kind of teachers. The third kinds of teachers are ideal teachers. Some teachers sacrifice their lives to help the students. They are humble, self -disciplined, helpful, honest ,creative and available to all the students. By respecting the students and giving self confidence to their students, these teachers help the students to become good citizens. They are perfect role models and they also have great hearts. Anne Marie Murphy, 52 is the perfect example for these kinds of teachers. She was a Sandy Hook Elementary teacher who died to protect her students during the shooting. She sacrificed her life for her students. She was the perfect role model. Students who have these kind of ideal teachers are very lucky. Teachers do not all teach same way. Students like their teacher according to their own individual preference. The relationship between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective. Teachers are different, however, they all have something in common, and that is the desire to help their students.

Motivation Essay -- GCSE Business Marketing Coursework Essays

Motivation INTRODUCTION The purpose of this paper is to analyze whether the needs of the employees, of HRD Department of the company, I used to work for, are relevant with the Maslow's Need Hierarchy Theory or not. In order to analyze above purpose, I have concentrated on five employees, after dividing them into four groups by the level of their education, income, and responsibility. Five levels of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs are : Physiological, safety and security, belonging and love, esteem and the self-actualization need. RELEVANT RESEARCH Bernard L Rosenbaum has written in his book, How To Motivate Today's Worker, that, "at the bottom of Maslow's hierarchy are the physiological needs (food, water, etc), followed at the next level by safety or security needs (which includes both physical safety and protection against injury or financial hardships). The higher-order needs are---love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization.(p.6). Richard I. Henderson states in his books, Influencing Employee Behavior At Work, that, lower-order needs must be satisfied before the individual is motivated (driven) to satisfy a higher-order need.(p.4) Frank Goble, in the words of Abraham Maslow, wrote in his book, The Third Force," It is unusual, not usual," he says, " that an act or a conscious wish have but one motivation.". In other words the whole person is motivated, not just a part of him.(p.36).In the book called The Gold and the Garbage in Management Theories and Prescriptions, James A. Lee states that, Maslow's theory stresses 1) that humans are wanting animals whose motivation will stem from unsatisfied needs, which means that satisfied needs are not motivators; and 2)that these needs are arranged in a hierarchy of importance, which results in shifts in motivation to the next higher level of needs as lower levels are satisfied. The author further adds, that according to this theory of needs hierarchy, for any given person, one class of needs will be more motivating than other. (p.64, p.66). The blue-collar Employees The blue-collar employees in the department have the lowest level of education and are mostly from low- income families. These employees carry the burden of large families, which often includes their unemployed/dependent family members such as retired parents, spouse, children and at times even their unemployed brothers or sist... ...s very much applicable and also reliable, however, the best person to know whether Maslow's theory of Hierarchy of Needs is applicable or not is the individual himself or herself. Maslow was one of the first people to be associated with the humanistic, as opposed to a task-based, approach to management. As people have increasingly come to be appreciated as a key resource in successful companies, Maslow’s model has remained a valuable management concept. Works Cited: Rosenbaum, B.L.(1982). Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Rendah vs Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah Essay

As time goes by, Malaysia’s education system undergoes big changes. In 1983, Kurikulum Baru Sekolah Rendah (KBSR) was introduced and made some changes to the education system. 10 years later, its name was changed to Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Rendah (KBSR). Now, a new curriculum was introduced a year ago, 2011 to replace KBSR: Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR). KSSR was introduced to reorganize and upgrade the current curriculum. Changes can be clearly seen in the aspect of key areas, curriculum documentation, curriculum design, curriculum organization, curriculum content, elements and focus. In the aspect of key areas, KBSR focused on three key areas: communication, man and his environment and self-development whereas KSSR focused on six key areas: communication, spiritual, attitude and values, humanitarian, physical and aesthetical development, science and technology and lastly, physical and personal development. KBSR focused only on individuals whereas KSSR focused not only on individuals but also their surroundings. KSSR’s aim was to produce holistic individuals. KSSR focused on values for character building through the curriculum and co-curriculum. In curriculum documentation, KBSR follows the syllabus for teaching materials whereas KSSR formulated based on Standard Document which consists of Content Standards which covers on students’ skills, knowledge and thinking and Learning Standards which are a set of achievements which can be measured for each content standard. The curriculum design for KBSR is linear which only involves listening, speaking, reading and writing whereas for KSSR is modular which involves not only listening, speaking, reading and writing but also covers language arts and grammar. In KBSR, level 1 has Core, Compulsory and additional subjects whereas in KSSR, level 1 has Basic Core Modules, Thematic Core Modules and Elective Modules. In level 2, KBSR implemented Core, Compulsory and additional subjects similar to level 1 whereas KSSR only implemented Core and Elective subjects. As it can clearly be seen, in level 1, a new subject is introduced: Thematic Core Modules. This new subject was introduced to reduce the number of subjects taken in level 1. This module consist themes of the World of Art and World of Science and Technology. In the World of Arts, two subjects are introduced: Visual Arts and Music. In the World of Science and Technology, basic ICT skills are taught. The curriculum content in KBSR only focuses on listening, reading, writing, speaking, sound system and grammar in context. KSSR focuses on the same content but replaced sound system with phonics. Phonics is a more detailed version of sound system which teaches students the sounds of English specifically. Three new contents are also added: basic literacy which teaches students the ability to read and write adequately, penmanship which teaches students the right way to hold and use a pen or a pencil and lastly, language arts which exposes students to poems and songs enabling students to appreciate and enjoy them thus, building creative minds in students. Lastly, the focus of KBSR is the 3M (membaca, menulis dan mengira) which is reading, writing and counting whereas KSSR’s focus is the 4M (membaca, menulis, mengira dan menaakul). KSSR added a new focus which is thinking. This newly added focus helps students to understand more about what was taught and at the same time improve their thinking skills. To sum up, KSSR is a curriculum which is student centered. This new curriculum diminishes Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) which means it is less-exam oriented and more to project and activity based. This new curriculum also focuses on ICT and independent learning. KSSR also aims to strengthen the command of Bahasa Malaysia and English among students. Mathematics and Science subjects are all in Bahasa Malaysia and English periods have been increased.

The Cold War Battle - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 6 Words: 1899 Downloads: 1 Date added: 2019/04/11 Category History Essay Level High school Tags: Cold War Essay War Essay Did you like this example? The battle of the Cold War was the first time in U.S. history in which military technology had developed to a point that mutual annihilation was ensured. The presence of two global superpowers, each diametrically opposed to the other on the basis of political belief meant that there had to be a new way of dealing with foreign affairs. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Cold War Battle" essay for you Create order Pure isolationism would not work because of Soviet leaders and their desire to actively export their brand of communism to the world. This competed with American interests which simultaneously rued pursuing another world war and which had no desire to see such an oppressive brand of politics from rapidly taking over the globe. As such, the foreign policy known as Containment developed, which helped exhaust the Soviet economy and prevent an active war from breaking out between the Western world and the Communist one. Containment as a foreign policy was instrumental in bringing about the demise of the Soviet Union as evidenced by its unique birth and nature, its effects on the Soviet Union, and Ronald Reagans escalation of it during his Presidential term. The use of Containment as a foreign policy during the Cold War is to examine a long and varied history of foreign policy initiatives that were tremendously varied because of the differences in foreign policymakers (and Presidents) that espoused them. The beginnings of American-Soviet relations were anything but hostile. Despite the public opinion of Communism, Roosevelt and Stalin really did share a fondness for each other. Stalin was outspoken about his fascination with Roosevelt, making sure not to hide his fondness for FDR which amazed [his fellow diplomats] because his character was so harsh that he rarely bestowed his sympathy on anyone from another social system (Montefiore, 1012). Roosevelt also claimed on his fireside chats that he got along with Stalin quite well and that the Communists were allies in their fight against Hitler. On one hand, the media foundation had an impact in sweetening the relationship, building up a surge of articles, books, and movies [instructing] Americans to bless the Kremlin (McDougall, 154). Then again, just 50% of Americans guaranteed that they would be open to thinking about the Soviets partners after the war (McDougall, 155). The beginnings of the arrangement along these lines got themselves borne out of the doubt that Americans felt with Communists standing out from Roosevelts rehashed claims that the Communists were great individuals and that they had no motivation to stress over anything awful occurring. However the Soviets immediately demonstrated that they were determined to expanding their very own capacity while taking as much from the West as they could. Socialist covert agents penetrated American bureaucratic systems and implanted themselves in upper levels of administration to the suspicious caution of the general masses, most broadly in the Manhattan venture (Montefiore, 1038). The American open and lawmakers were naturally panicked, and the political system for defaming the Soviets had been set. They were never again observed as considerate partners expectation on keeping peace inside the world, however as asset hungry oppressors, giving it their best shot to send out their particular image of governmental issues. It rapidly turned out to be evident that Stalin was not content with the reparations that came after the war. The Soviet government was giving it its best shot to help along growing Communist transformations in different nations, supporting Greece where Communist extremists offer for control, Turkey which the Soviets squeezed for fringe amendments and maritime entry through the straits, [and] Iran where they positioned troops infringing upon Allied accords (McDougall, 159). In this condition, American authorities got themselves progressively under strain to force some sort of stopgap on Soviet development without raising clash to the point of the war. Undoubtedly, the quick strategy of the time in those befuddling after war years was to just embrace a whats yours will be yours, whats mine will be mine approach with Russia with the end goal to stay away from genuine military battling between the two forces (McDougall, 158). The emergency at last reached a crucial stage when Britain declared that they would never again have the capacity to monetarily bolster Greece and Turkey, basically leavin g a power vacuum which would have been filled by Soviets if the western world did not act to confine their entrance (McDougall, 162). The prospects were clear; if the Americans did not act to stop Soviet development, at that point it would proceed unchecked spreading crosswise over weaker countries in Asia, Africa, and southern Europe (McDougall, 163). Conclusions of the two nations between one another started to acrid as well, prompting an expanded want to embrace some sort of control arrangement. The Soviet supposition of authority American remote arrangements was not helpful for amicable relations once the war finished. Control ended up ending up more appealing as a strategy the more the Soviets and Americans questioned one another. Stalin reliably played his nation off as submitting to Western requests and in that capacity painted himself as the poor focus of out of line requests. As a general rule, the United States acknowledged Stalins maintenance of the grounds he had snatched while a partner of Hitler, acknowledged his favored Polish limits [and] offered the USSR a veto in the Security Council (McDougall, 157). Americans could basically not trust that they were simply the foes in the relationship or get themselves ready to overlook that Russia was a ruthless tyranny kept running by a tyrant plan on overwhelming every last bit of land he could get. The circumstance compounded when Stalin proclaimed that any participation between the warlike colonialist camp and the peace -adoring communist camp was inconceivable and this was the motivator for the Soviet people groups to expand their endeavors at industrializing and mobilizing (McDougall, 159). Western governments at long last comprehended that there would be no simple method to manage the developing Soviet risk, particularly when assuaging a pioneer who was clarifying that he would wind up hungrier for power the more he was mollified (McDougall, 165). American feeling of the Soviets had unmistakably declined when it was comprehended that the Soviets were not going to stop their activities at any point in the near future. The Soviets had possessed the capacity to keep an eye on American and British nuclear research ventures, sending vital data back to Moscow so the Soviets could build up their own bombs, a prospect that scared the separate governments (McDougall, 159). Stalins activities at Yalta just served to intensify the circumstance as he declined to bow to any Western requests for surrender of intensity and constrained the British and the Americans to give him command over East Germany (McDougall, 157). The Americans additionally understood that Soviet nationals were anxious people groups under the Kremlins thumb and wanted opportunity from their severe abuse and focal arranging of their administration (McDougall, 168). The Americans knew and comprehended this was a prosecution and that the Soviets would effectively undermine the collaboration between the Western worlds legislatures and its people groups. In this manner, Containment at long last solidified into a total remote arrangement framework that was a result of a few variables. To begin with, the breakdown of European and Asian powers after the overwhelming physical pulverization created by WWII implied that they would never again be practical contender for checking Soviet political extension. The solidness of their money related frameworks left them open to developing Soviet military influence which they had demonstrated they were able and willing to utilize (McDougall, 165). Second, Stalins conduct at Yalta demonstrated toward the Western world that he was not willing to acknowledge requests that would restrain his capacity or stem the fare of Stalinist legislative issues to different nations. He was just ready to be conciliated and this incensed American political authorities and nationals who felt that the little confidence they held in Soviet government officials had been broken by over and over forceful activities and tal ks (McDougall, 157). Third, Hitlers attack of Europe had demonstrated that military power was the main dialect that tyrants could get it. Any liberal pacification would just serve to reinforce their certainty and patriot talk would be utilized to set Soviet residents against American ones paying little mind to Americas position on Soviet issues (McDougall, 157). At last, the developing Soviet military, joined with their procurement of long-run rockets and atomic weapons implied that Americans could never again exploit being at a significant separation from any world war. The Soviets would have the capacity to assault America without requiring one Soviet trooper to step foot on American soil, consequently driving American military authorities to concede that power had now leveled between the two superpowers (McDougall, 165). The informal approach had been made, and it was marked into law with National Security Council reminder 68, in this way upholding the quick development of atomic and traditional powers with the end goal to bring U.S. control in accordance with its duties (McDougall, 165). It served to give a measurable, composed technique in which military and open authorities could stem the developing intensity of the Soviets while as yet dodging any genuine military clash that would without a doubt demolish the two superpowers. The arrangement spoke to American voters since it transformed the expectation the US put into the United Nations into displeasure against the Soviet Union for endeavoring to maneuver the world once more into an overwhelming world war. It additionally helped Americans that an equalization to remember control between mainlands was important to U.S. security with the goal that the development of one district was checked by the advances of another (McDougall, 166). Maybe the mos t essential factor in the presentation of the notice was a discernable sense that the Soviet government was submitted fanatically to the conviction that with the US it is alluring and fundamental that the inner concordance of [the] society be disturbed, [the] customary lifestyle be devastated, [and] the worldwide expert of [the] state be broken (McDougall, 160). Stalin and his legislature were prepared to do whatever was important to advance conflict inside Western governments and set the nations against one another while subverting Western organizations (McDougall, 160). The utilization of NSC 68 was not without debate. It legitimized and sanctioned the huge uses that were important to keep up a tremendous military complex that was equipped for scaring the Soviets. It additionally requested higher duties and government intercession in science, instruction, business, and work (McDougall, 169). Some contended that the innate imperfection with the reminder was that it embraced war-time approaches without a real revelation of it; implying that there would be not a single end to be found and that the Soviets and Americans would continually be in a condition of uneasiness, stressing over the activities of the other. It was likewise politically unapproachable and was viewed as an important part of American outside approach until the administration of Ronald Reagan. The program itself additionally experienced a few structures, waxing and melting away as far as military quality, molding itself to fit the perspective of what the President saw fit (McDougall, 1 70). Trumans perspective of remote approach introduced the Marshall Plan, NATO, and the Truman Doctrine (McDougall, 170). The Korean war under Truman achieved a forceful development of military power that at that point fell altogether amid Eisenhowers residency (who depended on atomic prevention and key unions to reinforce American quality abroad). Kennedy and LBJ pushed atomic stalemate and occupied with wars in underdeveloped nations, which went about as intermediaries for American and Soviet power

Slavery in the American South Essay - 1809 Words

Slavery in the South Slavery was a big part of life in the South. Many plantation owners relied on slaves and their work to help get the money and crops they needed. There were two types of slaves in the South at this time. There were house slaves and there were field slaves. House slaves consisted of servants, maids, and butlers. They were normally treated better than the field slaves (Biel 14). They got to be inside most of the time. Owners of house slaves would usually not beat them because they wanted the slaves to look presentable for whatever guests arrived or stopped by. The head driver was normally a prior lo ng time slave who could be trusted to help get the work done that needed to be done. There were two methods of appointing jobs to field slaves for the owners. One method was the gang system. Under this method, the slaves were simply divided into groups, each of which was directed by a driver, and were worked for as many hours as the overseer considered a reasonable workday (Williams, Current, Friedel 494). This gang method was found in regions growing tobacco and cotton (Stewert 22). The other method was the task system. Here a slave was allotted a particular task in the morning, say to hoe one acre; When he completed his job, he was free for the rest of the day (Williams, Current, and Friedel 494). Many of the slaves would use this time to tend their own crops, which they used to supplement their diets, and if there was a surplus, to sell to other slaves or local traders (Stewert 22). This was a good time for the slaves to finish what they needed to be done. Most slaves, however, w ould not be given this opportunity because most plantation owners would see this as a waste of time. Old Madam Yin Essay Example For Students

Old Madam Yin Essay Seventeenth century China had become a closed country, in effect limiting how much of the outside world was allowed into China. In essence China had closed its doors to missionaries and all who would try to push western culture (Christianity, alcohol, opium, etc) onto the Chinese people. Tradition was very important to the Chinese. With the passage of the unequal treaties in the nineteenth century the doors were once again opened for missionaries-thus paving the way for an influx of western idealization. New (modern) ways of thinking emerged, greatly impacting the lives of traditional Chinese households, an example of this is the Yin family, written by Ida Pruitt, born to missionary parents in China but still having very close ties to the Chinese people. Traditional ways of doing things and living were thought to be the best. With modernization came a cultural crisis during the Qing dynasty. What principles were to be taken from the West while holding to traditional Chinese values be came the key question. The unanimous answer of the Chinese youth being: East for essence, West for practical Use. This is a resounding theme in Old Madam Yin. The Yin family was very much from a traditional background. The social ranking and male hierarchy was very much a prevalent factor in the life of Lao Tai-tai, The Chinese family system was organized around the kinship of men (vi). A family tree was not traced by the female, but rather by the male-the wife being the property of the husband. A woman in Chinese society was dependent upon a male: whether it is her father, husband, brother or son. Divorce was generally not tolerated, and remarriage was frowned upon. In spite of this, Lao Tai-tai remarried after her first husband died, and rose to great wealth with her second husband whom she loved more than the first. A great homage and respect of ancestors was to be paid. There were five generations that each man hoped to be able to venerate-his father and mother, his grandfather and grandmother, and the three generations preceding them-though a family was merely required to worship three (34). Age was also an important factor within Chinese society. Lao Tai-tai comes in contact with Ida Pruitt because of her wish to adopt a baby boy for her second sons wife. They already had a girl, but it was expected that they should also have a son-for he would carry on the family line. Lao Tai-tai had four sons, described in-depth to some extent. Lao Tai-tais fourth son married a French woman, much to his mothers distress. She was not Chinese, but more than that she refused to learn the customs of her husbands people. The bride and groom were expected to kneel before the ancestors and before the (living) parent, Lao Tai-tai, her fourth sons wife refused to do so. The marriage was seen as a disappointment to the family. The youth were changing, and intermarriage became more acceptable to certain renegade youths. While modern ways began to take hold of Chinese society many still clung to their Eastern roots. Lao Tai-tai was a traditional Chinese woman, with a modern spirit-she took measures to ensure education for her granddaughter as well as her grandson, providing equally for each. Lao Tai-tai even had a modernized bedroom-a bathtub, mattress and bed, and other furniture from the west, though she cared for it little (44). The practicalities of western inventions (plumbing, bathtubs, beds, etc) were desired, but the cultural ramifications from adopting a completely Western worldview would have been far too great.
